This role, located in either Garden City, KS or Great Bend, KS, requires an aptitude for troubleshooting, reading one-line electrical drawings, and the ability to manage your own schedule and priorities. On a day-to-day basis, this position allows you to maintain and repair remote terminal units, transducers, and other system protection equipment including electro-mechanical and electronic relays, protective controls, and switchboards. Qualifications:
High school diploma
Apprentice level requires Associate degree in industrial electrical, instrument and control, or electronics field or two years of system protection experience directly related to the installation and maintenance of electro-mechanical and electronic relays and control equipment utilized by electric utilities, or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
Journey level requires four years’ experience as a relay technician with system protection experience directly related to the installation and maintenance of electro-mechanical and electronic relays and control equipment utilized by electric utilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate degree in industrial electrical, instrument and control, or electronics field is preferred.

EEI Testing:
We administer selection tests for a variety of positions. The required tests have been developed by the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), a trade association of investor-owned electric utility companies. We strongly encourage candidates to review all the information, including the sample test brochures, and to use the available practice tests before taking the actual tests, available here:

Practice tests provide sample questions and detailed discussions of the correct answers. It’s important to take the practice test as you would the actual one, with similar intensity and concentration. You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer.
Note: EEI does not allow access to the actual tests. Testing sessions are held at various locations.
